-Yes that is a good plan. And yes to make net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 persistent just append the following line to /etc/sysctl.conf:
-net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1
-and then to load the new settings:
-# systcl -p
